Passenger plane over Türkiye airport

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure reports that Türkiye's international network has reached 356 locations in 133 countries. Expanding flying rights creates the basis for new flights, but does not mean that every route is already flown daily.

What has changed in international agreements

According to the ministry, 91 bilateral negotiations in the field of civil aviation added 22 new points and 1,071 frequencies. Frequency is the number of flights allowed in a certain period, and not a guarantee of immediate launch. The schedule depends on the decision of the carrier, demand, aircraft availability and season.

The role of Istanbul Airport

The agency indicates that Istanbul Airport is connected to more than 339 destinations. The target for 2026 is 90 million passengers. The scale of the hub increases the choice of connections, but the passenger must take into account the minimum transfer time, terminal, baggage rules and a possible change of airport in Istanbul.

What does this mean for Russian-speaking passengers?

A wider network is useful not only for direct trips to Türkiye, but also for transit to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. When comparing tickets, look at the entire route: individual bookings may not protect a passenger if they are late, and transit and visa rules depend on citizenship and transfer country.

How to check a specific flight

Official statistics show the potential of the network, but the actual flight must be confirmed with the airport and airline for the desired date. Check the turnaround time, days of the week, baggage allowance and return conditions. A seasonal route and a year-round connection have different values for tourists and permanent residents.
