New Ministry of Trade rules effective from 1 August 2026 require the commercial nature of social-media posts to be disclosed clearly. They cover paid promotions, free products, services, discounts and other benefits.

What counts as clear disclosure

Wording must directly identify advertising, collaboration, sponsorship or promotion. The label cannot be hidden among hashtags or after a long caption.

Free products may still be advertising

Free accommodation, products, services, discounts or other benefits offered in return for a post require transparent disclosure.

Turkey Compass policy

Advertising and partner material are labelled separately from independent reporting. Advertising is not an editorial endorsement.
