Türkiye's statistical institute reported that the agricultural producer price index rose 2.31% month on month and 18.81% year on year in July 2026. It is an early signal for the food supply chain, not a ready-made estimate of a supermarket basket.
What the indicator measures
The index tracks prices received by agricultural producers at the first stage of sale. It does not fully include processing, packaging, logistics, rent, taxes or retail margins.
Why shop prices may move differently
Seasonality, harvest conditions, fuel costs, exchange rates and competition can amplify or soften producer-price changes. The annual rise does not prove that every food item increased by exactly the same amount.
