Turkey's service producer price index (H-ÜFE) increased 2.87% in August 2026 and 33.29% from a year earlier, TÜİK reported on 30 September. The annual rate edged up from 32.77% in July. Transport and storage services recorded the strongest rise among the six main groups at 40.07%, a useful warning for companies and households exposed to freight, travel and distribution costs. The index measures prices received by service producers; it is not the consumer inflation rate or a forecast of a specific bill.
Transport and storage remained the strongest pressure point
Prices in transport and storage services rose 3.99% from July and 40.07% from August 2025. That broad group includes multiple business services and should not be read as a direct 40.07% increase in every airline ticket, taxi fare or parcel charge. It does, however, show continuing producer-price pressure in a sector that affects tourism, imports, deliveries and operating costs across the economy.
Accommodation and food services increased 27.53% annually
Accommodation and food-service producer prices rose 2.27% in the month and 27.53% over the year. Travellers should not use that figure to calculate the price of one hotel stay or restaurant meal because location, season, quality, taxes and sales channels differ. Tourism businesses can use it as a national cost and pricing benchmark, then compare it with occupancy, wages, food inputs and energy bills in their own destination.
Real-estate services rose 21.71%, not property values
The producer-price index for real-estate services increased 2.77% monthly and 21.71% annually. It covers service activity in the sector; it is not a house-price index, rent index, commission tariff or proof that a particular property's value rose by the same amount. Buyers and investors still need comparable sales, rental evidence, title and zoning checks, building condition and transaction costs for the specific asset.
All six main service groups recorded monthly increases
Information and communication services rose 2.31% monthly and 28.69% annually. Professional, scientific and technical services increased 0.65% monthly and 32.79% annually, while administrative and support services gained 3.03% monthly and 30.44% annually. The broad rise suggests service-sector price pressure was not confined to one field, although the pace differed materially between activities.
How to use the index without overstating it
H-ÜFE tracks prices charged by domestic service producers to other businesses, government and households. It can affect consumer prices and company margins over time, but the pass-through is neither immediate nor one-for-one. Businesses should combine it with contracts, wages, energy, exchange rates and demand. Households planning a move or long stay should compare actual local quotes for transport, insurance, professional help, housing and hospitality rather than applying the national index mechanically.
