Türkiye's Ministry of Trade says HubX has become the country's first unicorn specifically in the mobile-application field. The company announced funding of up to $75 million from Point72 Private Investments, while the ministry reported a $1.275 billion valuation. The milestone gives international investors another data point on Türkiye's export-oriented software ecosystem, but it should not be confused with an IPO, a public share price or $1.275 billion of cash entering the company.
What was announced
HubX's 28 August corporate statement describes the transaction as funding of up to $75 million from Point72 Private Investments to accelerate its products, artificial-intelligence infrastructure and acquisition strategy. The Ministry of Trade published the official Turkish valuation figure on 29 August and linked the company to its E-Turquality support programme.
Why the ‘first’ label needs precision
The ministry calls HubX Türkiye's first unicorn in the mobile-app sector, not the country's first unicorn of any kind. It also notes that three other technology companies supported by the ministry had previously reached unicorn status. A unicorn is a privately held start-up valued above $1 billion; it is an industry label rather than a licence or state guarantee.
The wider export signal
According to the ministry, Türkiye's information-technology service exports rose from $432 million in 2012 to $5.5 billion in 2025, more than tenfold. HubX matters within that trend because mobile apps can earn revenue globally without exporting physical goods. One large financing round, however, does not establish the valuation or profitability of the wider sector.
What investors should not infer
The official notices do not announce a stock-exchange listing, a retail subscription, a government equity stake or a guaranteed return. A $1.275 billion private valuation is the price reference attached to this transaction; it is not the company's annual revenue, cash balance or independently guaranteed sale value. Any future investment access would require separate documents and due diligence.
What to watch next
The useful follow-up indicators are the final amount drawn under the ‘up to’ $75 million commitment, deployment of funds, acquisitions, export revenue and any later audited or regulatory disclosure. For founders in Türkiye, the deal also puts the E-Turquality programme and globally distributed consumer software back in focus, but eligibility for public support remains a separate application process.

Turkey Compass compared the Ministry of Trade announcement dated 29 August with HubX's own newsroom announcement dated 28 August. Both support the funding and unicorn claim. The ministry supplies the exact $1.275 billion valuation and sector context; HubX identifies Point72 Private Investments and describes the funding as ‘up to’ $75 million.
